In October of 2012 I got the opportunity to travel to the Dominican Republic on a Public Health outreach project. I got the chance to assist and educate Haitians living in poor communities and villages called "Bateyes". These families live in very inhumane conditions and struggle to survive in a new land in which they are not always welcomed. This was a very inspiring and eye opening experience.
